Homework

Each term, children will receive six weeks of maths, reading comprehension and spellings, with one set to complete each week. Homework should be completed in order and returned to school every Friday.

As part of Year 6, children are encouraged to take greater responsibility for remembering their homework, managing their time and looking after their homework folder, which they will use throughout the year. We will support them with this throughout the year, helping them to develop the independence and organisational skills they will need as they prepare for secondary school.

On Fridays, we mark the maths and comprehension together in class, giving us an opportunity to discuss tricky questions and address any misconceptions. Children who need help, or would prefer to complete their homework with support, can use their Friday lunchtime Homework Trust Pass. Any incomplete homework will also be completed during this time so that everyone can take part in the whole-class marking session.
