Term 6
Welcome to Term 6 – The Final Chapter of Our Eagles Journey!
As our time at Primary draws to a close, Term 6 will be filled with exciting milestones and opportunities to make memories. We’ll be preparing for our end-of-year production (Shakespeare Rocks), where every pupil will have the chance to shine on stage. We’ve also got an Athletics Day at Corby, House Races at the Sports Complex, Bikeability sessions, First Aid training, Colour Dash and of course, the much-anticipated SATs Treat.
As well as all these exciting activities, our learning journey continues with …
Maths: in Term 6, the Eagles will be applying everything they have learned to real-life situations. Through a range of exciting projects, they will tackle real-world problems that require budgeting, reasoning, and strategic thinking. From planning a summer music festival where the Eagles will need to consider camping, food and drinks, selling tickets, designing posters and advertising the festival to designing their very own zoo business (complete with animal costs, staff wages, and profit margins). Together they will sharpen their maths skills in meaningful and practical ways.
In English, the Eagles will be showcasing their writing talents through a variety of short pieces that will celebrate the writing skills they have developed through their KS2 journey. I’m looking forward to reading imaginative narratives based on a short animation, balanced arguments discussing the use of mobile phones and a social media ban for under 16s, persuasive letters asking for extended break times to name but a few. It’s time for the Eagles to show what awesome writers they are!
Our final Science unit is all about electricity. I thought it would be great fun if we combined this unit with a DT project. The Eagles will be set the challenge of designing and creating a machine that will clean up litter – a ‘Super Sucker’.
In our fascinating History topic, they will explore the evolution of crime and punishment through the ages. From the gruesome methods of medieval justice to the reformative systems of modern times, they will be comparing, contrasting, and discussing how societies have handled crime in wildly different ways.
This is going to be another jam-packed term with so much to look forward to and so many chances to make memories! As you know from our scripts Shakespeare said, “All the world is a stage…”
Let’s take our places on that stage Eagles, and let our adventures in Term 6 begin…
