Term 4
The Circle of Life!
In Science, we will begin to look at life cycles and how humans change as they grow. We will have the opportunity to explore how plants reproduce, how the life cycles of many animals vary, and how we as humans change as we age.
In English, we will look at Philip Pullman's style as a writer, with the aim of recreating his style in our own writing. We will explore his narrative style, and how he creates immersive settings by studying Clockwork. We will aim to create the beginning of our own narrative in his style. To finish the term we will explore limericks and study Edward Lear's work. We will aim to create our own limericks about the characters in our narratives.
For our whole class read, we will continue to read The Riddle of the Runes and also begin to look at Charles Darwin On the Origin of Species.
We will also continue to read The 1,000 Year Old Boy during our BEAR lessons.
In Maths, we will be learning about fractions. We will begin by looking at equivalent fractions, then move on to converting fractions, comparing them, and recognising fractions as a form of division. We will then look at adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions.
In RE, we will be learning about salvation and Peter's role in the story of Jesus' life.
In D&T, we will be learning about frame structures, with the aim of creating our own birdhouses for the start of Spring.
In PE, we will focus on gymnastics. We also have the opportunity to develop our tennis skills with lessons at Stamford Tennis Club by experienced and professional tennis coaches.
In French, we will work with Mrs. Honorez to build on our knowledge of places and how to get about.
