Reading

Reading

Reading takes many forms in the Kingfishers. To enable us to progress with our reading we will have opportunities to take part in reading activities across the curriculum.

The Kingfishers will also continue to bring books home to enjoy, share and discuss. Please share these with your Kingfisher as often as possible and return them to school each day. I would recommend that they are read several times before they are changed. The first read is an opportunity for your Kingfisher to practise their decoding skills and become familiar with new vocabulary. The second time they are read will help them to develop greater fluency and a deeper understanding of the text. There will be two boxes outside the classroom, one for books that need changing and one for those that don't.

Don't forget to sign your child's reading record as it will count toward their reading badges and certificates!
