Term 3

Vicious Vikings?

In History, we will be answering the question 'Does describing the Vikings as vicious raiders portray them accurately?' We will spend this term exploring: where the Vikings came from, who they were, what they did and how opinions about them have changed over time. We will examine both primary and secondary sources.

In English, we will begin to focus on building suspense in our narrative writing. We will use The Wolves in the Walls by Neil Gaiman as the inspiration for our own narratives. We plan on linking this to our history topic by imagining a story where Vikings come out of the walls. Later in the term, we will begin focusing on an alternative style of poetry. We will use Edward Lear as our inspiration and begin writing limericks about Viking characters.

In Maths, we will continue developing our understanding of multiplication and division before moving on to fractions.

In RE, we will be exploring what non-secular means, and how following God can bring freedom and justice.

In Art, we will be focusing on building our printing skills. We will be using lino printing (with a focus on positive and negative space) to create Viking themed prints.

In PE, we will continue to focus on gymnastics. We also have the opportunity to work with The Welland Dance Company this term. Our PE days will be every Tuesday and Friday.
