Homework
Homework
Homework is an important part of learning in Year 5 and will be set every Wednesday on Teams using the assignments feature. To allow the children an opportunity to reflect on the week's learning, I will provide answer sheets for some pieces of homework. This provides children with the opportunity to be reflective learners by self-marking and identifying any green for growths. Please return marked homework via Teams, or Class Dojo's portfolio page by the following Tuesday. The work set will cover topics we have worked on during the week. You can expect to receive a maths task, a grammar task, a spelling task and a set of spellings each week. Spelling tests are every Tuesday. All necessary login details will be sent home.
Reading
In the Falcons, we need to read our reading books at home every night. In Year 5, it will be your responsibility to change your book once you have finished reading it. Please bring your reading record to school every day so you can update it during our reading time. I would like to see everybody's reading records on Tuesday so I can stay updated with what you are reading at home. We will have opportunities for independent reading each week to encourage a love of reading within our classroom. During this time children can read any book they choose. You can bring a book from home, but please ensure it has the child's name written in it. We also have Book Talk Sessions each week. These sessions provide an opportunity to develop our reading comprehension skills.
