Term 4

Term 4 – Joyful Japan

We start term 4 with our Art topic where we will explore the world beyond Europe by visiting Japan. We will be exploring Hokusai's artwork, before attempting to produce our own prints in the style of his work.

We will end our term by performing our class play to an audience. Our class play is

What's The Crime, Mr Wolf? by Mike Horth & Jan Porter. The Kestrels are going to be AMAZING actors!

In English, our theme continues! We will start with having fun writing Haiku's (a type of short-form poetry from Japan) and will move on to writing recounts. We also have another awesome class read this term The Boy who grew Dragons by Andy Shepard.

In Maths the Kestrels will continue developing their understanding of measurement by learning how to read bar charts and picture diagrams. As well as learning about time and measurement. They will then go on to use this knowledge to problem solve.

In RE the Kestrels will be exploring why Christians call the day jesus died Good Friday, with the aim of enabling them to hold balanced and informed conversations about religion and belief. At the end of this unit, they should recall events within the holy week and know the reasons why the day Jesus died is 'good'.

We will have PE on Monday mornings and Thursday afternoons this term. On Mondays, the Ospreys will be learning Gymnastics. They will link actions to make sequences of movement and develop flexibility, control, and balance. On Thursdays, they will develop their orienteering skills.

Our PSHE theme this term is the community, the Kestrels be exploring: what makes a good community? We will also have French and Music this term covered by our fantastic teachers from the trust. Make sure to ask your children all about it!

Looks like we are going to have an exciting term!
