Welcome back to Term 4!
The theme for this term is
Out of this World!
In English, we will start the term by reading and investigating the features of persuasive letters. We will look at how they are structured as well as the type of language used. Using the book, 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt as our inspiration, we will go on to write our own persuasive letters. Later in the term, we will be reading short biographies about individuals who played a significant role in man's journey to the moon before writing our own biography of the NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson.
In Maths, we will be learning about the properties of shapes. We will be naming 2D and 3D shapes, using mathematical language to describe their properties and finding lines of symmetry in 2D shapes. Later in the term, we will move on to learning about fractions.
In History, we will be learning about the first moon landing. We will be looking at different sources of evidence to prove that man has been to the moon and thinking about why and how astronauts traveled there.
In Science, we will be learning about solids, liquids and gases. We will be looking at what happens when you heat a solid as well as what happens when you mix a solid and a liquid. We will be thinking about how you can separate a mixture and investigating reversible and irreversible changes.
In RE, we will finish our unit learning about Judaism so we can answer our question 'Who is Jewish and how do they live?' before moving on to learn about Easter.
