Term 2 is always a busy one in Year 1. There is also much excitement as we get closer to Christmas with Christmas plays, Christmas lunch, Christmas parties and Christmas crafts.

As well as all of our Christmas fun we also have lots of other learning to do too!

In English we start the term with a unit on Firework Poems. We will read lots of examples before using onomatopoeia and alliteration to write our own poem.

In Maths we will be furthering our understanding of place value in numbers using part whole models and we will also be looking at addition and subtraction within 10. 

In our Geography learning we will be focusing on our local area and we will be going out and about to look at human and physical features. We will also be using maps and aerial photographs to identify places.

In R.E. we will be answering the question Why does Christmas matter to Christians? This unit focuses on the Christmas story told in Luke's Gospel where it is the shepherds who visit Jesus in the stable.
