Homework is an important part of learning in Year 3 and will be set every Wednesday on Teams using the assignments feature. To allow the children an opportunity to reflect on the week's learning they will be provided with answer sheets for certain pieces of homework, this will allow them to self-mark and identify any green for growths. Please return marked homework via Teams or Class Dojo's portfolio page by the following Tuesday. The work set will be based on topics we have covered during the week. You can expect to receive a maths task, a grammar task, a spelling task and a set of spellings each week. Spellings will be tested every Tuesday. You may also receive a research task that is linked to our topic. All necessary login details will be sent home in the children's homework books.
In Kestrels we need to read our reading books at home every night. Books will be changed once a week from a selection of books within the classroom. Please bring your reading record to school every Tuesday so I can stay updated with what you are reading at home. We will have opportunities for independent reading each week to encourage a love of reading within our classroom, during this time children can read any book they choose. A book can be brought from home but please do ensure it has the child's name written in it. This book must also stay in the child's draw when not in use. Miss Baker will keep a list of the books read during this independent reading time and encourage discussion about the texts and if/why we are enjoying or not enjoying what we are reading. We also have Reading VIPERS and Book Talk Sessions each week. These sessions provide an opportunity to develop our reading comprehension skills.
